Jez Truelove
I am a fine art photographer based at Bath Artists’ Studios working with traditional film and darkroom techniques, close observation and light.
I work to create images which capture the essence of a particular object, whether it is natural or manmade: its “thisness”, that which makes it unique rather than that which makes it universal. I photograph a wide variety of subjects and always in monochrome to reveal the essential shapes, textures and tones which make that subject individual.
Every print is hand-printed in my darkroom to archival standards, including selenium or sepia toning. In my recent work, I am experimenting with hand-coating different papers with light sensitive emulsion to achieve even more individual images.
